About

The Whippet is a medium-sized sighthound breed admired for its sleek appearance, incredible speed, and gentle temperament. Originally developed in England for racing and rabbit hunting, Whippets are known for being one of the fastest dog breeds in the world, capable of reaching remarkable speeds over short distances.

Whippets have a slim, athletic build with long legs, a deep chest, and a smooth short coat. Their elegant appearance resembles a smaller Greyhound, and they come in a wide variety of coat colors and patterns including black, blue, fawn, brindle, white, and combinations of these shades. Despite their athletic abilities, Whippets are calm and affectionate dogs inside the home.

This breed is highly friendly, gentle, and loyal to its family. Whippets generally get along very well with children and other dogs, making them excellent family companions. They are intelligent and sensitive dogs that respond best to gentle training and positive reinforcement.

Whippets enjoy short bursts of energetic activity such as running and playtime, but they are also known for being relaxed “couch potatoes” indoors. Daily walks and opportunities to run in secure areas help maintain their physical and mental wellbeing.
