About

The Egyptian Mau is one of the oldest and most distinctive natural cat breeds, admired for its elegant appearance, naturally spotted coat, and remarkable speed. Believed to have descended from the cats revered in ancient Egypt, the breed is known for its graceful build, expressive gooseberry-green eyes, and loyal personality.

Medium-sized and muscular, the Egyptian Mau has longer hind legs than front legs, allowing it to run with exceptional speed and agility. It is the fastest domestic cat breed, capable of reaching speeds of up to 48 km/h (30 mph). Their short, silky coat features naturally occurring spots—making them one of the few domestic breeds with this unique pattern.

Egyptian Maus are intelligent, curious, and affectionate with their families but can be reserved around strangers. They enjoy climbing, interactive games, and hunting-style play. Highly observant and loyal, they often form deep bonds with one or two favorite people.

The breed generally gets along well with children, other cats, and cat-friendly dogs when properly introduced. Their active nature means they appreciate plenty of opportunities for exercise and mental stimulation.

The Egyptian Maus cat price in India typically ranges between ₹40,000 to ₹80,000 depending on breeder quality, lineage, and location. Monthly maintenance costs range from ₹4,000 to ₹7,000 including food and healthcare.
